Imperial Online has built state-of-the art data centres, where services such as mail servers and software applications are hosted. Designed to provide advanced security, redundancy and backup, the data centres have dual optic fibre lines, power generation and fire prevention facilities.
Partnerships with Telkom and leading computer hardware suppliers ensure superior quality, performance and service at all times. Our advanced ATM backbone, as well as Service Level Agreements (both with our partners and customers), further strengthen our offering.
Housing Solution
Imperial Online's housing service allows customers to physically host their own hardware within our data centre. This option increases download speeds simply because of the direct link to the Internet. You will no longer need a leased line to your premises to accommodate the additional traffic as required by hosting the same service at your site. The environment is managed by a highly skilled networking team, who is focused on ensuring the highest levels of uptime on the network.
Cluster Solution
Our cluster service comprises of a full rental option whereby customers rent a server from Imperial Online and host this server in our data centre. A project team determines each Customer's requirements, before offering a range of rental options. Imperial Online then supplies the server hardware, high-speed redundant network, server monitoring, battery back-up and rack space. We take full responsibility for the hardware and offer defined turnaround times in terms of hardware failure.
Backup and Restore
Imperial Online’s Back-Up solution is a scalable solution to meet your ever-growing needs. It employs modular architecture that leverages today’s high-speed network and device technologies to provide the following benefits:

IOL’s Back-Up and Restore delivers on that promise, by providing a comprehensive solution that is simple to install and manage while providing high performance and state of art functionality in a cost effective suite of product offerings.
Access Control
Controlled security access ensures no unauthorised entry into the data centre. Customers are only allowed access to the data centre in the company of an Imperial Online staff member. Access hours are from 08:00 to 17:00. After hours access is by pre-arrangement and in case of emergency only.
Firewall
All servers reside in a shared DMZ, which provides protection from the Internet, but not from other servers within the DMZ.
Uninterrupted and Filtered Power Supply
We have a dual UPS system that filters the power supply into the building. Imperial Online also maintains a diesel generator to supply power in the case of power failures.
Air Conditioning
Our data centre has sufficient air conditioning units to maintain a constant favourable temperature.
Fireproofing
Our data centre contains an advanced fire suppression system.
Physical Security
An advanced alarm system is linked to an armed response unit. In addition, guards patrol the premises 24x7.
Intrusion Detection
Imperial Online provides intrusion detection software and vulnerability analysis.
Antivirus Protection
We maintain anti-virus software, which is regularly updated with patches.
Backup Storage
Imperial Online offers a number of options for backup storage. Backup storage tapes are made onsite or offsite. We also offer a LAN back-up solution.
Customers are notified via SMS (MTN and Vodacom) and email, depending on specific requirements should any problems be incurred.
